Student Camp

For students in grade 11, we pay for at least one student a year to attend a materials science camp, usually held in the United States. This week-long camp exposes the students to the basics of materials science and has them participate in their own failure analysis of a part or component donated to the camp, under the supervision of a local expert.

Teachers' Camp

We also sponsor a mini-camp for teachers as part of teachers' convention. This day long seminar aims to provide high school teachers with labs and demonstrations that are relevant to the Alberta high school curricula for chemistry, physics, and science while also demonstrating some of the interesting fundamentals of material science. We also provide background information to the teachers that explain how the experiments are relevant in the real world of materials science and engineering.
